Our Technology

Do you hear that customers have trouble scanning a single RFID tag, often unable to avoid reading the many tags around it?
For decades, the RFID industry has been telling all customers that, “you can’t reliably read just one tag with UHF RFID,” but now you can, by using RecoHand™. RecoHand™ is designed to only read tags within about two centimeters of your pointer finger, ignoring all the stray tags around it.
Which means you simply touch (or nearly touch) a tagged object with a gloved hand to read the unique ID on the tag.
RecoHand™ was nominated as a FINALIST for the BEST NEW PRODUCT AWARD at RFID Journal LIVE 2024!

Our Solution

WHERE it works?

In any situation where, until now, your customers had to use a barcode scanner (even when RFID tags were present) in order to ensure a one-to-one read.
RecoHand™ helps enhance efficiency in those scenarios.

Retail

Customers often feel stressed waiting in line at checkout, and there are instances where store staff make mistakes when picking items for curbside pickup. RecoHand™ helps enable a seamless “Walking Cash” experience where customers can pay without waiting in line, simply by handing items to staff in-store. Additionally, it allows for instant and accurate recognition of item information without the need for visual label checks or scanning each barcode individually. In one motion, as the staff grabs items, they are receiving feedback.

Health Care

It is effective for managing expired pharmaceuticals and improving the efficiency of picking medical supplies. For example, are you currently checking the expiration dates of pharmaceuticals by manually picking up each item in a tray and scanning barcodes? Even if you can read all items at once with RFID, finding a single expired item can be a tedious task. Additionally, if you are visually confirming product information or scanning barcodes during picking, there is still room for efficiency improvements. Since RecoHand™ does not require a line of sight, it allows for extremely fast and accurate feedback while performing picking tasks.

Logistics

It makes it easier to receive items and provide a quality check on anything being processed like sorting, picking and so. Transportation and delivery customers who have found that while delivering packages on “the last mile” and when the delivery vehicle is packed full of packages, if a product is at the package in the back of the van, it can be difficult to find. Users can touch the packages and shelve UHF RFID Tags while they load-up, so that when they get to the delivery address they now know where that item is on the shelves, doing it all hands-free and without worry that an incorrect tag could’ve been mis-scanned.

Manufacturing

When detecting RFID tags on parts, boxes, and tools, it provides the necessary information for each assembly task while performing routine operations, contributing to worker efficiency. Additionally, it naturally captures detailed process information—such as who touched or held what and when— without adding extra work for the operators, enabling the identification of process bottlenecks and high-precision delivery management.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of applications are RFID readers used for?

RFID readers are generally used for quantity checks of incoming and outgoing shipments, and for inventory stocktaking. So-called inventory management is a common application of RFID readers.
RecoHand™ is useful for picking, sorting, packing, and other situations where one-by-one reading is required; it is a device that can overcome the weakness of the UHF band: reading too many items at once.

What is the difference between a handy type RFID reader and RecoHand™?

RecoHand™ can scan exactly only the RFID tags you want to read. The reading area is located inside the hand, so you can scan the tags while doing other tasks at the same time

How long does the battery last and how long does it take to charge to full?

Battery life is about 4 hours of continuous use. Charging takes approximately 2 hours

Do you sell just the gloves?

Yes, we do. Flexible use is possible depending on the situation, for example, each individual can have his/her own glove but share the reader/writer, etc.

How do the systems work together?

We provide SDKs for Android, iOS, and Windows, so it’s tech friendly. We can also provide demo apps for trials free of charge.
